President Donald Trump is in “excellent health,” according to a memo released by the White House on Sunday following his annual physical exam.
During his Friday visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Trump had his heart, neurological, and skin examined.
“President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” wrote White House physician Sean Barbabella in a memo. “His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”
Barbabella reported that Trump’s daily activities include numerous meetings, public appearances, and “frequent victories in golf events.”
“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” according to Barbabella.
Trump will turn 79 in June. He will be 82 at the end of his term, making him the oldest person to hold the office by only a few months over former President Biden, who left office in January.
The White House physician’s memo confirmed that Trump underwent the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a test commonly used to detect memory problems or cognitive impairment. The memo stated that Trump received a score of 30 out of 30.
On Friday, the president told reporters that he took a cognitive test and bragged about answering every question correctly.
Trump also completed a questionnaire to assess depression and anxiety. His responses were “within the normal range for both,” Barbabella wrote.
Barbabella reported that Trump’s heart function is “normal.” The memo stated that Trump had a colonoscopy last July, which revealed a benign polyp. Doctors recommended that Trump have a follow-up colonoscopy in 2027.
Trump’s skin exam on Friday revealed he has “some minor sun damage and a few benign lesions.”
Trump has scarring on his right ear from being grazed by a bullet during an assassination attempt in July, but his hearing is normal, according to the White House memo.
The president weighs 224 pounds and stands 75 inches tall, according to a White House memo. His resulting BMI would classify him as overweight.
Barbabella stated that Trump is up to date on “all recommended vaccinations.” The president is taking two cholesterol medications, aspirin and mometasone, as needed for his skin.
Trump has released little information about his physical health since leaving office in 2020.
In November 2023, his campaign released a letter from his personal physician, who described the former president as being in “excellent health,” but provided few details about his most recent exam.
Trump and his campaign also provided little information about his recovery or any long-term health effects after being grazed by an assassin’s bullet in July 2024. Representative Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a former White House physician, stated that he examined the president’s ear wound at the time.
