A 42-year-old Florida stepfather is facing serious charges for allegedly punishing his 10-year-old stepdaughter by pressing her hand against a hot stove, causing a visible coil mark on her skin. Georgy Almony was arrested on Monday and charged with aggravated child abuse resulting in great bodily harm, according to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime.
Milliene Adeclat, 36, the girl’s mother, has also been arrested. Investigators say she was aware of the incident but failed to report it. She is now charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer after allegedly hitting and pushing officers during her arrest.
WSVN (Miami Fox affiliate) reported that the abuse occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the family’s home in Biscayne Gardens, an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County. The mother was at work at the time, and Almony was caring for the children at home.
Almony allegedly became enraged after the girl pushed her brother. According to WPLG (the Miami ABC affiliate), he grabbed her arm and “dragged her into the kitchen.” He then “placed her hand on the stove top oven, burning her hand, causing injuries,” according to the probable cause affidavit.
The report noted, “the victim’s skin came off where she was burned,” and a burn mark from the stove coil was clearly visible on her hand.
According to WPLG, the girl screamed in pain, grabbed Almony’s cellphone, ran into her room, and called her mother to report the abuse. Despite learning what had happened, Adeclat allegedly did nothing.
The situation became clear when the girl returned to school on Monday. A teacher noticed the burn and alerted authorities.
Almony and Adeclat were brought to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Intracoastal Station for questioning. Police say neither provided any useful information—Almony refused to speak, and Adeclat denied the allegations.
They were booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Adeclat was released after posting a $1,500 bond, while Almony had posted $7,500. Both are set to appear in court on May 14, according to online records.
