A Brief Recap Oak Hill's Lady Spartans Handle Business

OAK HILL – After losing two of their previous three games and having senior night canceled, the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans defeated Oak Hill 12-4 on Monday evening.

With the game deadlocked at two apiece after the first inning, Greenbrier East scored five runs in the second, stole all of the momentum from the Lady Red Devils, and never looked back.

It was an essential first step for the Lady Spartans, who have games scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Haylee Hester, who has been hitting the ball incredibly effectively in recent games, smashed a two-run home run to right field in the fifth inning, capping the scoring for East and putting the game out of reach. She went 2-4 at the plate with one run scored and four RBIs.

Campbell Bundy also hit nicely, going 2-3 with a run and one RBI. Maddie Baker has been a pleasant surprise lately, going 2-4 with a run scored. Finally, Kennah Collins had a hit, three runs, and two RBIs.

Emily Pyles earned the win in the pitcher’s circle after a strong performance. She pitched four innings, allowing six hits, three runs, and two strikeouts.

Sadie Branch led the Red Devils (12-9) to a 2-2 day. She scored a run and drove in one.

The Spartans (13-8) return to the road on Tuesday, April 29, against Princeton. The first pitch is slated for 5:30 PM.
