Millena Brandão, a child actress and model who appeared in the Netflix series “Sintonia,” died at the age of 11 on Friday.
The adolescent died on Friday, May 2, after becoming ill. Her parents, Thays and Luiz Brandão, do not know what caused her death.
Thays Brandão, Brandão’s mother, reported to Brazilian news outlet G1 that her daughter began experiencing severe headaches, leg pain, drowsiness, and loss of appetite on April 24.
“She had a headache, but she could walk and talk,” Thays Brandão explained. “The doctor said it was dengue fever but did not perform any tests. He told us to take her home and administer dipyrone.
Thays Brandão reported that Millena Brandão’s pain worsened and she was unable to work. They returned to the hospital only to be turned away again.
Millena Brandão fainted in her bathroom.
“She put her hand on her head and screamed in pain,” Thays Brandão recalled.
She was eventually admitted to the hospital, where she died from a cardiac arrest.
“Her lips turned purple. They then resuscitated and intubated her. “She never woke up again after that,” her mother told G1.
A CT scan showed a 5-centimeter mass in her brain.
“Her condition worsened, with two to three cardiac arrests per day. She had thirteen arrests in total. She would never had that before.
There was one day when she experienced seven respiratory arrests. Her mother recalled that they sometimes massaged her and other times shocked her (with a defibrillator).
Doctors eventually declared Millena brain dead.
