A 33-year-old Florida woman will spend the rest of her life in prison for fatally stabbing her father and attempting to kill her mother after they asked her to leave. Christina Anne Adams was sentenced on Wednesday to two consecutive life sentences for the murder of her father, Richard Langer, and the attempted murder of her mother, Sally Langer.
Judge Timothy McCourt imposed the sentence, which was announced by the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
“Our fundamental duty is to seek justice, and in pursuing this goal, we strive to provide closure for the victims and their families while ensuring accountability for those responsible,” said Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie. “Today, as difficult as it has been for the victims and their families, I believe we’ve gotten just that.”
According to the State Attorney’s Office, the attack took place on September 16, 2022. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a home on the 100 block of SE 70th Terrace in Ocala, Florida.
When officers arrived, they discovered an adult man and woman with multiple stab wounds.
“While rendering aid to both victims, Victim One, who was later identified as Richard Langer, stated to officials that his daughter stabbed them,” the release said.
Deputies promptly issued a law enforcement alert. A short time later, they stopped Adams’ vehicle, which was also being driven by her wife.
Adams and her wife were both apprehended during the traffic stop. During questioning, Adams’ wife told detectives that she had been running errands before meeting Adams at the grocery store. She stated that nothing seemed unusual, and Adams had not mentioned any conflict.
However, Adams’ version of events differed from her wife’s.
Adams later admitted to detectives that she was furious about being asked to leave the home she shared with her parents. She grabbed a large knife and attacked them both, stabbing them repeatedly.
“Adams stated after she believed the victims were deceased, she attempted to destroy evidence and then left the location. Adams told detectives that following the attack, she changed her clothing and went shopping,” said the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by ABC News.
According to the Tampa Free Press, Richard Langer identified his daughter as the attacker before dying.
