Josh Peplowski is the recipient of the Golden Trowel Award for West Virginia Master Gardeners

GREENBRIER – Josh Peplowski, an agricultural extension agent in Greenbrier County, received the renowned West Virginia Master Gardener Golden Trowel Award and was recognized at the 2025 Master Gardener Conference, which took place in early April at Canaan Valley Resort.

The West Virginia Master Gardener Association recognizes an individual West Virginia Extension Service staff member (county, regional, or state level) for their steadfast support of the West Virginia Master Gardener Program.

In addition to touring around the county assisting farms with their soil, livestock management, and grazing concerns, Peplowski serves as the “go to” source for the area master gardeners.

He is eager to share his expertise in cutting-edge agricultural practices such as soil quality improvement, insect management, fruit and vegetable cultivation, and the most effective pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer application techniques.

This award highlighted Peplowski’s untiring energy and contributions to the Master Gardener Program. Peplowski was chosen from a pool of 1300 master gardeners from 46 counties who had collectively completed 30,000 volunteer hours and over 10,000 education hours. A well-deserved honor for Peplowski’s dedication and service.
