On federal gun charges, a Lewisburg man was sentenced

West Virginia – A Lewisburg man will spend more than a year in prison after being sentenced on federal gun charges.

A court sentenced Richard Shawn Owens, 39, to one year and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court documents, the conviction stems from his illegal possession of firearms, despite a previous misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.

According to court records, officers carried out a search warrant at Owens’ home on August 10.

Inside, they discovered six firearms (handguns, rifles, and a shotgun), as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

The weapons were reportedly in plain sight and easily accessible in a home with two children.

Owens admitted to having the firearms.
