The new store will replace the former Walmart at Blankenbaker Plaza.
This is the fourth time the grocery chain has opened in the southern state’s East End.
One store has already opened on Old Henry Road, but two more are under construction on Flatrock Road in Eastwood, as well as on Ballardsville and Brownsville Road.
With approximately 1400 locations, the southeastern grocery store is rapidly growing.
Inflation has wreaked havoc on household budgets, and customers claim the supermarket is less expensive than Whole Foods but sells more expensive food.
In a Quora thread about which supermarket had a cheaper organic selection, the overwhelming consensus was Publix.
Amelia composed the following sentence: “Publix, definitely publix, Whole Foods is a rip off.”
Lee Middleton wrote: “My grocery spending used to be 80% Publix and 20% Costco/others. What about now? “Post-pandemic, it is all Publix.”
Jill Rafferty contended that, while “Publix is hardly fancy, it is well run, has great customer service, and carries quite a decent product selection at good prices, which is why it is highly rated.”
“I shop at Publix about twice a week. It is the store of my choice!”
Kerry Berger agreed: “I believe Publix has an excellent selection of foods that are not as expensive as Whole Foods.
Kevin Kopas added, “Nothing beats Publix; it has great quality foods, great service, and reasonable prices.
“Obviously, there is a difference between Publix and Wal-Mart, but do I need to go into detail about how bad Wal-Mart is?”
“Whole Foods is close to the same higher-end level of groceries, but you pay for it.”
Some customers believed that Whole Foods groceries were of higher quality and more likely to be locally sourced, but this was frequently outweighed by the “exorbitant prices.”
