A North Carolina man is accused of killing three people inside a home and calling 911 to report the killings.

Kevin Musser, 35, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in Bladen County, according to court records. According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Greg Dennis, 54-year-old Randy Benton, and 32-year-old Phillip Palmer were killed on March 17 at their home in Clarkton, a city about 50 miles west of Wilmington.

Around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call reporting a shooting inside a home.

“Deputies responded to the scene where they encountered 35 year old Kevin Musser at the front door of the residence with bloody clothing holding a handgun,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. “Musser shut the door and retreated out the back door where deputies quickly found him on the back door steps.”

Musser was airlifted to a hospital after suffering “life-threatening injuries,” according to the sheriff’s office. Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies entered the house and found the victims, each with “multiple stab wounds.”

Although Musser was initially considered a person of interest, he was charged with murder the next day.

According to the sheriff’s office, Musser placed a call to emergency services around 7:30 p.m. the night of the slayings. According to local NBC affiliate WECT, the caller identified himself as “Randy.”

The caller informed the 911 dispatcher that he had been shot.

“What kind of firearm did he shoot you with?” the dispatcher inquires.

“I don’t know,” Musser — then known as “Randy” — responded.

“Where was he shot at?” the dispatcher inquired.

“I don’t know,” the caller replied. “I am blind. “I can’t tell.”

“Is he breathing?” the 911 operator inquired.

“No, he’s dead,” Musser said. “Everyone’s dead.”

“Is he beyond help?” the dispatcher inquired.

“Beyond help,” the caller replied.

Although Musser claims to have told 911 that the victims were shot, the sheriff’s office confirms that they were stabbed to death.

In addition to the triple murder charges, Musser is accused of possessing methamphetamine and stealing one of the victims’ wallets. According to court records, he remains in custody.

According to WECT, Musser is scheduled to appear in court again on April 3.
