Four people were killed in a murder-suicide early Monday morning in Louisiana, and a woman will now spend Mother’s Day burying her toddler daughter.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a welfare call at a Keithville residence shortly before 7 a.m. on May 6.

According to the CPSO, deputies on the scene attempted but failed to communicate with an individual inside the house.

A short time later, deputies heard a single gunshot from inside the home, prompting the deployment of a drone to search it.

Deputies then discovered four bodies inside the home. The County Coroner’s Office identified them as Leroy Sadler, 60; Judy Sadler, 64; James Sadler, 29; and Adalynn Mae Sadler, two years old.

The shooter’s name has not been released, but the Caddo Parrish Coroner’s Office has classified Judy, James, and Adalynn’s deaths as homicides.

Public records show that the incident occurred at Leroy and Judy’s home, and the CPSO stated that “neighbors of the suspect informed investigators that the suspect was possibly a doomsday prepper.”

Kara’s cousin, who set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds, writes that Adalynn Mae “was beautiful, so intelligent, and always full of joy.”

She went on to describe the toddler as “the brightest light in Kara’s life and truly the sweetest little girl you could ever meet.”

The post went on to explain how Kara would now be forced to experience every mother’s worst nightmare on the worst possible day.

“Instead of spending this Mother’s Day weekend with her baby, she will be laying her to rest,” according to the message. “No mother should ever have to feel that kind of pain.”
